April ChiefCalf grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan, but relocated to La Ronge in 2001 to work for NORTEP/NORPAC. She teaches courses in women and gender studies, Indigenous studies, and educational foundations. April is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Regina, where she is researching how Indigenous female students in a northern provincial high school take up discourses of race and gender in the formation of their identities.
