Annual Briarpatch Skate-a-thon

For the third year in a row, this exciting outdoor fundraiser gives skaters at all levels of skill and enthusiasm the chance to lace up and raise money for Briarpatch.

If you want to support the work that Briarpatch does, and you can skate between one lap and one mile, this fundraiser is for you.

How to participate in the skate-a-thon

1. Sign up using our handy form. We will send you a pledge form, and share the link to an online pledge form as well. Ask your friends, family, and coworkers to sponsor your skate. They can pledge an amount per lap or one flat sum.

2. Skate! Keep track of your distance (especially if you have per-lap sponsors). If you’re up for it, take a picture and send it to us or post it online with #bpskate.

3. Collect your donations and send them to Briarpatch. Skaters are asked to collect their own uncollected pledges, and will be provided with a list of any pledgers who supported them online.

If you are in Regina, we are skating at the Leslie Park outdoor rink on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., with coffee beforehand and lunch after.

If you are not in Regina, you can complete your skate at any time in February. Flexible! We are also able to help set up an organized group skate in your town – just let us know on the signup form if you’re interested.

This is a fun skate; we love beginners, expert skaters, and everyone in between! There is no pressure to complete a certain number of laps. Just skate for as long as you are comfortable.

Not up for a skate?

You can still help! Pledge a skater by donating a sum of money for each lap completed or a flat rate. Donors: please fill out this form to indicate how much you're donating, and to which skater. After the skate-a-thon, the skater you pledge will follow up with you to collect your donation and send it to Briarpatch.

You can also help by collecting pledges for a skater. Locate a skate-a-thon participant or get in touch with us and we’ll match you up with one!
